Newtown: Going Green for a Living
A 45 hectare green masterplan for Newtown as part of the 'Going Green for a Living' project. The Green Infrastructure scheme includes a destination play park, cafe, mountain bike trail, allotments, bmx track, events space, canoe facilities and native tree and wildlflower planting. The proposals, developed with local architects and stakeholders, secured National Lottery funding of over £1m and will help Newtown make the most of its green spaces, benefiting the community, local economy and wildlife. Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, Powys
Lingard Styles were part of the design team for the extension and development of the largest contemporary arts gallery in the region. The gallery occupies a central position, overlooking a park within the largest town in mid-Wales
Funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Wales, the design brief called for an enhanced visitor experience and integration with the site's parkland setting.
National Design Competition, Cumbria
We recently showcased our 3D landform modelling skills for a Landscape Institute competition to create a new park from 11 million m3 of spoil from the proposed Moorside Power Station in Cumbria. Our sinuous design integrates with existing habitats and access networks while creating tranquil spaces and dramatic vistas with some striking landform design elements, inspired by crystal structures.
Loughor Riverside Park, Swansea
This design and project management of a a 100 hectare £0.5m public park and wetlands on the banks of the Loughor Estuary was undertaken for Swansea City and County. The site, a reclaimed industrial area, incorporated new amenity features including fishing stations, boat club, public footpaths and viewing areas over the wetlands. Flood prevention and erosion engineering works were carried out on the banks of the estuary as part of the project.
